The Creative Abditory

About Us

Abditory: (Noun) a hiding place, a place for preserving valuables.
The Creative Abditory is for the modern muse - the curious creatives looking to adorn their spirit and inspire a sense of freedom. This is a space where jewellery is not just an accessory; it is an expression of identity, belief, and experience. A way to enrich your own personal journey with timeless craftmanship, quality, and attention to detail that stands out from the mass-produced. Recycled silver and gold are used to construct each item, with gemstones from all over the world. No two pieces are ever alike.

I'm Alex! I love coffee and gathering inspiration from all over the world to create beautiful pieces.
TCA was born in Wellington, NZ in December 2020. Though I love many artisanal crafts, metalsmithing is my method of expression - fabricating with silver, gold, and gemstones, honouring the unique sentiments and stories that jewellery can have. I specialise in one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a meaningful story. With authenticity, symbolism, and craftmanship at the core, I enjoy the challenge of experimenting with alternative materials and techniques to invoke an elevated bohemian style. My vision for TCA is to offer a holistic experience that resonates with those who seek to adorn their journey with purposeful beauty.

Caring for your jewellery

Sterling silver is quality material that benefits from a little TLC to make it last a lifetime.
Avoid wearing while at: - Pools/hot tubs/jacuzzis. If it comes in contact, rinse your jewellery with fresh water after swimming. The chlorine can damage the silver. - Hot springs - the sulfur in natural hot springs will cause your sterling silver to tarnish. - Cleaning products and chemicals like bleach will blacken silver - rinse with water immediately after exposure and polish. - Excessive heat, moisture and light may affect certain crystals, such as opal, turquoise, and citrine. Crystals below a 5 on the Mohs hardness scale should be treated with extra special care. To bring back its shine, you can gently polish your jewellery with a lint-free cloth like a microfibre glasses cleaner (provided with all orders) or a clean cotton bud for hard-to-reach places. Gold filled jewellery is extremely durable and lasts a long time with the right care. You can wear your gold filled jewellery as you would with solid gold, but take extra care when coming in contact with abrasive material. Over time, tarnishing will naturally occur, but by following the above advice, you will help to protect your jewelry for longer. Please get in touch for specific care regarding your jewellery, especially with custom orders!
